  EXPLORER POST 45: ABOUT US

Live the Adventure

Have you ever watched firefighters fight a fire? Have you ever seen fire trucks racing to an emergency scene? Have you ever wondered what it’s like to actually be a part of the excitement?

By joining the Hughsonville Fire-Rescue Explorer Post 45 you will get valuable, hands-on experience with real firefighters.

Explorers are a group of young men and women who have an interest in the fire-rescue profession. Explorers experience similar training, duties and actual situations that Hughsonville firefighters handle on a daily basis.

As an Explorer, you will meet bi-weekly at Hughsonville Fire Station, located at Old Hopewell Rd in Wappingers Falls. Meetings are conducted in a business-like manner with agenda items including new/old business, planning community projects and instruction/training sessions.

Fire department personnel offer Explorers training in:

  • Fire suppression

  • Equipment use and apparatus safety

  • Emergency scene safety

  • First Aid (First Responder)

  • CPR certification

Fire prevention, public education and safety demonstrations are also a valuable part of the community service offered by members of Explorer Post 45.

Explorers are able to participate in the Ride-Along Program where they put their skills to work on emergency calls by assisting firefighters as part of the team. Saving life and property and helping our community to be a better place to live is always priority.
