FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE June 6, 2025 Hughsonville Fire Department Structure Fire – Brush Fire Upgraded to 10-75 Alarm
On Friday, June 6, 2025, at approximately 12:41 p.m., the Hughsonville Fire Department was dispatched to a reported brush fire. Upon arrival, the first responding firefighter found a detached garage, camper, and a large amount of rubbish fully involved behind a single-family residence.
While responding, the incident was quickly upgraded to a 10-75 (Working Structure Fire) due to the extent of the fire, prompting the response of additional mutual aid resources.
Engine 45-11 was the first arriving apparatus on scene and deployed a 1 ¾” hand line to begin knocking down the bulk of the fire and protect a nearby residential structure, which sustained minor radiant heat damage. Firefighters from New Hackensack Fire Department arrived shortly thereafter, stretching an additional hand line to assist with fire suppression operations. Firefighters from the Village of Fishkill stood by as the designated FAST (Firefighter Assist and Search Team).
Units operating on scene included: • Hughsonville FD: Engine 45-11, Tanker 45-31, Tanker 45-32 • New Hackensack FD: Engine 52-12 • Village of Fishkill FD: Ladder 42-45 (FAST Team)
We were also assisted on scene by the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, Dutchess County Department of Emergency Response, Town of Wappinger Ambulance, Central Hudson Gas & Electric, and the Town of Wappinger Building Department.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Dutchess County Fire Investigation Division, but does not appear to be suspicious at this time. All units were placed back in service at 4:30 p.m.
