On Saturday, August 6, 2022, the HFD, Town of Wappinger EMS and New York State Police were dispatched for a two car motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Route 9 & Old Hopewell Road. Hughsonville’s District Duty Captain William Beale was the first arriving officer on the scene and reported one patient unconscious and entrapped in the vehicle. A second ambulance was requested and dispatched by Dutchess County 911.

The HFD responded with 45-1(Chief), 45-2(Asst. Chief), 45-7(District Duty Captain), 45-55(Heavy Rescue), 45-11(Engine), 45-62(Utility Truck), and 45-67(EMS Fly Car).

When 45-55 arrived on the scene firefighters utilized "the Jaws of Life" extrication equipment to remove one of the vehicles passenger side front door to access and remove the patient. Town of Wappinger Ambulances then transported two patient to a local hospitals for further treatment. Route 9 was shut down for a brief time while first responders were handling this incident.
