VEHICLE FIRE – ROUTE 9

Yesterday at 3:33pm, the Hughsonville Fire Department was dispatched by Dutchess County 911 for a report of a vehicle smoking at Route 9 and Smithtown Road.

The first arriving Chief Officer found an active vehicle fire with flames coming from the engine and passenger compartment. 45-11(Engine) arrived shortly after, and firefighters quickly stretched a hand-line and extinguished the fire.

Route 9 was briefly shut down while crews operated on scene. No injuries were reported to the motorist or to our firefighters.

The HFD was assisted on scene by the New York State Police.
