| Youth Advisor Dan Mochon Award Youth Mentor of the Year Award
Chief of Department Paul Rogers is proud to announce that Junior Hughsonville Firefighter Post Advisor Dan Mochon has been awarded the 2025 Youth Mentor of the Year by the Firefighters Association of the State of New York (FASNY)!
This prestigious honor is presented to one individual across New York State who goes above and beyond in mentoring and inspiring the next generation of firefighters and Dan is more than deserving of that recognition.
Dan’s journey with the Hughsonville Fire Department began as the first Advisor of Boy Scout Troop 145. After passing that torch, Dan helped bring new life to the department’s dormant Fire Explorer Post. In 2022, he and several members of the department hosted an open house that recruited six new Explorers, officially kicking off what would become an incredibly successful youth program.
Under Dan’s leadership, the Explorer Post evolved into the Junior Hughsonville Firefighters. A program that has already seen more than six of its members advance to become active firefighters in our department. In 2025, Dan deepened his commitment by joining our ranks as a firefighter himself.
Dan’s passion, dedication, and ability to lead by example have had a lasting impact on our department and the youth who aspire to serve. We are incredibly grateful for his service and congratulate him on this well-earned honor! |
