THANK YOU TO CHIEF OF DEPARTMENT PAUL ROGERS, JR.

As 2025 comes to a close, the Hughsonville Fire Department announces an important leadership transition. Each year, the Fire Chief has the honor of selecting one member to receive our highest firematic recognition — the Firefighter of the Year Award.

This award is presented to a firefighter who has gone above and beyond in their dedication to the department, their fellow members, and the community we serve. It recognizes commitment, leadership, and a willingness to step up whenever needed.

Being named Firefighter of the Year is a reflection of the hard work, pride, and professionalism that this individual demonstrates throughout the year. Tonight, we are proud to recognize one member who truly represents the best of our department., Chief Paul Rogers, Jr. will be completing his service as a Chief Officer at the end of this year.

Chief Rogers joined the Hughsonville Fire Company in 2001 as a Fire Explorer. He is one of only three Fire Explorers in the department’s history to rise through the ranks to become Chief of Department. An accomplishment that reflects his lifelong dedication to the fire service and unwavering commitment to the Hughsonville community.

Over the course of 24 years, Chief Rogers served in nearly every role within the department’s firematic side including Firefighter, Lieutenant, Company Captain, 2nd Assistant Chief, 1st Assistant Chief, and ultimately Chief of Department. His broad experience and steady leadership were instrumental in guiding the department through both operational and organizational advancements. Beyond emergency response, Chief Rogers played a key role in modernizing the department’s apparatus fleet. He served as Vice-Chair of the 2022 Pierce Engine Replacement Committee and Chair of the current 2025 Tanker Replacement Committee. Both projects are critical investments that will enhance operational readiness and serve the community for many years to come.

The Hughsonville Fire Department extends its sincere gratitude to Chief Rogers for his leadership, dedication, and passion for the fire service. His impact on our department and the community is lasting, and his legacy of service will continue to be felt well into the future. The Officers and Members would like to say Thank you to Chief Rogers for his outstanding service and look forward to his continued guidance and support, both on and off the fire-ground.
