NOTICE OF SPECIAL ELECTION
HUGHSONVILLE FIRE DISTRICT, IN THE
TOWN OF WAPPINGER,
DUTCHESS COUNTY, NEW YORK
JULY 7, 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that pursuant to the resolution duly adopted on May 13, 2026 by the Board of Fire Commissioners of the Hughsonville Fire District, in the Town of Wappinger, Dutchess County, New York, a Special Election of the qualified voters of said Fire District, will be held on July 7, 2026, at 6:00 P.M. (Prevailing Time) and the polls shall remain open until 9:00 P.M. (Prevailing Time) or as much longer as may be necessary to enable the voters then present to cast their votes. The voting shall be at the fire house located at 88 Old Hopewell Road, Wappingers Falls, New York.
The voting shall be upon the following Proposition:
PROPOSITION
SHALL the bond resolution of Hughsonville Fire District, in the Town of Wappinger, New York, entitled: “BOND RESOLUTION OF THE HUGHSONVILLE FIRE DISTRICT, IN THE TOWN OF WAPPINGER, DUTCHESS COUNTY, NEW YORK, ADOPTED MAY 13, 2026, AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF BONDS IN A PRINCIPAL AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $18,995,000 TO FINANCE A PART OF THE COST OF THE CONSTRUCTION OF A TWO-STORY FIRE HOUSE ON LAND LOCATED AT 88 OLD HOPEWELL ROAD, WAPPINGER FALLS; STATING THE ESTIMATED MAXIMUM COST THEREOF IS $19,495,000 APPROPRIATING SAID AMOUNT FOR SUCH PURPOSE, INCLUDING THE EXPENDITURE OF $500,000 FROM THE FIRE DISTRICT’S CAPITAL RESERVE FUND TO PAY THE BALANCE OF SAID APPROPRIATION; AND PROVIDING FOR THE LEVY AND COLLECTION OF TAXES TO PAY THE PRINCIPAL OF SAID BONDS AND THE INTEREST THEREON AS THE SAME BECOME DUE AND PAYABLE,” be approved?
All residents of the Fire District who were duly registered with the Dutchess County Board of Elections, or who have otherwise registered as eligible registered Fire District voters, and who have resided in the Fire District for a period of at least twenty-three (23) days immediately preceding the date of the Special Election, shall be eligible to vote at said Special Election.
